Credit Unions will benefit from a new Governance360 partnership with the announcement of a new Commercial agreement with the Association of British Credit Unions Limited (ABCUL), the principal trade association for credit unions in England, Scotland and Wales.
The partnership will see Governance360 offer its affordable, easy-to-use governance and risk management platform to ABCUL’s member credit unions, along with tailored content and additional services designed specifically for the sector.
Credit unions are community-focused financial co-operatives, typically governed by volunteer directors who bring commitment and local knowledge but are rarely employed to manage governance as their primary role. They juggle board responsibilities alongside other commitments, often with limited time and resources. It’s exactly this type of organisation — mission-driven, volunteer-led and focused on doing the right thing — that Governance360 was built to support with its easy to use board portal, risk and workflow tools.
ABCUL represents the majority of affiliated credit unions in Great Britain and has long championed practical support for its members. As a co-operative of co-operatives, ABCUL itself is governed by an elected board of directors, so the challenges of effective board governance are well understood from the inside.
Governance360 delivers practical solutions to these everyday board management challenges. The platform replaces the familiar patchwork of email chains, shared drives and Excel spreadsheets with a single, structured system for meetings, risk registers, actions and documents. It also includes a CPD-accredited digital learning platform to support and develop board members and volunteers — making it the only platform that combines board management software with accredited director training.
The partnership reinforces Governance360’s focus on supporting smaller organisations where governance is managed by people who aren’t full-time specialists but who still need to achieve strong outcomes. For credit unions, getting governance right isn’t just about compliance — it’s about protecting members, building trust and ensuring long-term sustainability.
